Call to Worship
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all
wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to
God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus,
giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Colossians 3:16-17

Lament
Lord Jesus, we acknowledge the brokenness of the world you made, and recognize that things are not as they should be.

We lament the abuse so often uncovered by those in positions of  power;
Lord, hear our prayer and and bring humility and righteousness to those in authority.

We mourn with the many women and children who have been exploited by those with selfish interests.
Lord, comfort the oppressed and bind up their wounds in your perfect care.

We lift up the poor and marginalized in our community;
And we lament the ways they are often neglected.
Lord, we pray that your church would reflect your compassion and kindness
to those in need.

Come quickly Lord, Jesus. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.

That is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself,not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.

Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
2 Corinthians 5:17-21

and the perfect light of the Holy Spirit shine within you,
now and to the end of the age. Amen.

Confession of Sin
God of grace, we confess that we have elevated the things of this world above you.
We have made idols of possessions and often pursue them more than your kingdom.

Forgive us, O God, for the many ways we fall short of your glory.
Help us to learn to live together according to your ways through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Call to Worship
The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein,
for he has founded it upon the seas and established it upon the rivers.
Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in his holy place?

He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false and does not swear deceitfully.
He will receive blessing from the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation.
-Psalm 24:1-5

Confession of Sin
No one can serve two masters.
Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other.
You cannot serve both God and money.
-Matthew 6:24

Lord, we confess that you are good and your gifts are good.
Help us to think rightly about money and possessions;
Keep us free from greed and the love of money.

Father, we know that you are rich beyond measure, owning all things, yet you share freely with us.
As your children, help us to be generous with what we have.
Holy Spirit, would you encourage our hearts to be righteous in our living. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon
Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
Sell your possessions, and give to the needy.
Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old,
with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys.
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
-Luke 12:32-34

Praise be to God who has clothed us with more beauty than the lilies
And who has fed us better the birds
And who has given us the gift of salvation
