Call to Worship
I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart;
I will recount all of your wonderful deeds.
I will be glad and exult in you;
I will sing praise to your name, O most high.
The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed;
a stronghold in times of trouble.

And those who know your name put their trust in you,
for you have not forsaken those who seek you.
Sing praises to the Lord, who sits enthroned in Zion.
Tell among the peoples his deeds!

Confession
“Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had,
set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living.
After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need.
So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs.
He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything.

“When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare,
and here I am starving to death! I will set out and go back to my father and say to him:
Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you.
I am no longer worthy to be called your son;
make me like one of your hired servants.’

Pardon
So he got up and went to his father.
“But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him;

he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.
“The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you.
I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’

“But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him.
Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet.
Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate.
For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’
So they began to celebrate

Call to Worship
Your unfailing love, O Lord, is as vast as the heavens;
your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds.
Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains,
your justice like the ocean depths.

You care for all of creation, O Lord.
How precious is your unfailing love, O God!
All humanity finds shelter in the shadow of your wings.
You feed them from the abundance of your own house,
letting them drink from your river of delights.

For you are the fountain of life,
the light by which we see.
-Psalm 36:5-9

Confession
Loving God, we confess before you and each other that our lives are not pure and holy

apart from the cleansing we have in the cross of Christ.
Open our eyes, that we may see your image in those around us.
Open our ears to hear and believe your words of truth.

Open our mouths, to speak good rather than evil.
Open our hands, in generosity and help us to let go of clenched fists.
Open our hearts, to a desire to follow Jesus in full obedience.

We pray trusting in your forgiveness and in the power of your Holy Spirit
to lead and guide us in the paths of justice and righteousness for your name’s sake.
Amen.

Pardon
Our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness
and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.
Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift!

May the Holy Spirit remind you of who you are in Christ;
loved, cherished, approved and secure.

Be Thou My Vision

Call to Worship
The earth is the LORD’s and all that is in it,
the world, and those who live in it;
for he has founded it on the seas,
and established it on the rivers.

Through Jesus Christ,
the God of heaven has made his home on earth.
Christ dwells among us and is one with us.

Highest of all creation,
he lives among the least.
He journeys with the rejected
and welcomes the weary.

Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
Worship the LORD with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
Our help is in the name of the Lord,
who made heaven and earth.
(Based on Psalm 24:1-2, Psalm 100)

God Is Good

Confession
God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the gift of the Holy Spirit.

The proof of God’s amazing love is this: While we were sinners Christ died for us.
Because we have faith in him, we dare to approach God in confidence.
Rom. 5:5, 8; Heb. 4:16

Loving God, we give you thanks for the work that Christ has begun in our hearts.
He has brought us from death to life.
Through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, God has made us clean.
Forgive us when we forsake our new identity and sin against you.
Holy Spirit, remind us of the new life God has called us to that we might live for what is good.
May the work of our hands and the desires of our hearts reflect who we are in Christ, Amen.

Pardon
Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person.
The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
And all of this is a gift from God,
who brought us back to himself through Christ.
And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him.
For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself,
no longer counting people’s sins against them.
And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation.
So we are Christ’s ambassadors;
God is making his appeal through us.
We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”

For God made Christ, who never sinned,
to be the offering for our sin,
so that we could be made right with God through Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:17-21

the love of the Son, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit.
Peace be with you all.
And also with you.
