Call to Worship
Sing to God, sing in praise of his name,
extol him who rides on the clouds.
Rejoice before him—his name is the Lord.
A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows,
is God in his holy dwelling.
God sets the lonely in families,
he leads out the prisoners with singing;
but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.
Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior,
who daily bears our burdens.
Our God is a God who saves;
from the Sovereign Lord comes escape from death.
–Psalm 68:4-6, 19-20

Confession of Sin
And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.
–Ephesians 2:1-3

Assurance of Pardon
But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ
By grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

For by grace we have been saved through faith. And this is not our own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works. Not one of us has a reason to boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
–From Ephesians 2:4-9

Grant us, Lord God,
the vision of your kingdom,
forgiveness and new life,
and the stirring of your Spirit,
so that we may share your vision,
proclaim your love,
and change this world
in the name of Christ.

Call to Worship
We praise you, we worship you, we adore you.
You hold the heavens in your hand;

all stars rejoice in your glory.
You come in the sunrise and the song of morn
and bless the splendor of the noonday.

 We praise you, we worship you, we adore you.
The stars in their courses magnify you;

day and night tell of your glory.
Your peace blows over the earth,
and the breath of your mouth fills all space.

We praise you, we worship you, we adore you.
Your voice comes in the thunder of the storm;

the song of the wind whispers of your majesty.
You satisfy all things living with your abundance,
and our hearts bow at your presence.

 We praise you, we worship you, we adore you.
Accept us, your children, eternal Father,

and hear our prayer.

Confession of Sin
Merciful God,
you pardon all who truly repent and turn to you.
We humbly confess our sins and ask your mercy.
We have not loved you with a pure heart,
nor have we loved our neighbor as ourselves.
We have not done justice, loved kindness,
or walked humbly with you, our God.

Have mercy on us, O God, in your loving-kindness.
In your great compassion,
cleanse us from our sin.
Create in us a clean heart, O God,
and renew a right spirit within us.
Do not cast us from your presence,
or take your Holy Spirit from us.
Restore to us the joy of your salvation
and sustain us with your bountiful Spirit
through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
-based on Psalm 51:10-12

Death Has Lost Its Sting

Assurance of Pardon
Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
-Hebrews 4:14-16

Is He Worthy
[Youtube] [iTunes] [Spotify]

In your journeys to and fro
God direct you;
in your happiness and pleasure
God bless you;
in care, anxiety, or trouble
God sustain you;
in peril and in danger
God protect you.
The grace of God be with you all, now and always.

Peace be with you all
And also with you

Call to Worship
Clap your hands, all you peoples;
shout to God with loud songs of joy.
For the LORD, the Most High, is awesome,
a great king over all the earth.

God has gone up with a shout,

the LORD with the sound of a trumpet.
Sing praises to God, sing praises;
sing praises to our King, sing praises.
—Psalm 47:1-2, 5-6

Confession of Sin
Gracious God,
our sins are too heavy to carry,
too real to hide,
and too deep to undo.
Forgive what our lips tremble to name,
what our hearts can no longer bear,
and what has become for us
a consuming fire of judgment.
Set us free from a past that we cannot change;
open to us a future in which we can be changed;
and grant us grace
to grow more and more in your likeness and image;
through Jesus Christ, the light of the world. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon
Through Jesus Christ forgiveness of sins
is proclaimed to you.
In Christ we have redemption through his blood,
the forgiveness of our trespasses,
according to the riches of his grace.

May the God of peace
himself sanctify you entirely;
and may your spirit and soul and body be kept sound
and blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
