Call to Worship

The earth is the LORD’s and all that is in it,
the world, and those who live in it;
for he has founded it on the seas,
and established it on the rivers.

Highest of all creation,
he lives among the least.
He journeys with the rejected
and welcomes the weary.

The diseased, depressed,
dysfunctional and defeated;
God invites us into His healing
presence in faith and expectancy.

Then shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
Worship the LORD with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.

Our help is in the name of the Lord,
who made heaven and earth.

-Based on Psalm 24:1-2, Psalm 100

Confession

Lord, in your mercy hear our prayer
Christ’s finished work on the cross has granted us peace with God.
Yet we often struggle to believe that we are justified.
Though you have given us a peace that passes all understanding,
we confess that we are prone to worry and anxiety.
Though you have prepared good works for us to walk in,
we struggle to work in the peace and rest of your goodness.

God of all grace and mercy, we confess that we live among a people
who toil night and day trusting in the work of their own hands.
And we confess that the sins of our culture have stained our hands also.
Christ have mercy and help us strive to enter the peace of your rest.

Assurance
Hear the words of Jesus and be comforted: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Amen.
— Matthew 11:28-29

Call to Worship
Let us worship God,
for whom our souls thirst and our bodies long.
Listen, listen to me,
and your soul will delight in the richest of fare.
We have come to hear the Word God has sent.
God’s Word will not return empty
but will accomplish through us his holy purpose.
Let us worship God in spirit and in truth.
Then we will go out with joy and be led forth in peace;
the mountains and the hills will sing;
the trees of the field will clap their hands.

Benediction

Brothers and sisters,
let us claim the freedom Christ gives us
by his self-giving on the cross.
May he enable us to serve together
in faith, hope, and love.
Go in peace and serve the Lord.
Thanks be to God.

May the God of love, who shared his love,
strengthen us in our love for others.
May the Son who shared his life
grant us grace, that we might share our life.
And may the Holy Spirit dwelling in us
empower us to be only and always for others.
Amen.
