What Is biblical soulcare ?
Biblical Soulcare is really nothing more than intensive discipleship. All Christians are called to grow as disciples of Jesus, but at times we need extra help understanding our own hearts, minds, motivations, and so on. Soulcare advocates are trained to help bring this needed clarity and to call you to faith and obedience in the middle of life’s most challenging circumstances.
Is Biblical Soulcare Biblical?
Start to finish, the Bible is full of stories about people who experience the troubles; many experience mental, emotional, and spiritual turmoil as a result. For example, King David wrote this is Psalm 6:6-7
I am worn out from sobbing.
All night I flood my bed with weeping,
drenching it with my tears.
My vision is blurred by grief;
my eyes are worn out because of all my enemies.
But the Bible also teaches us what to do in these moments so that we can also say with David,
The Lord has heard my plea;
the Lord will answer my prayer (Psalm 6:9).
Biblical soulcare is not the same as counseling that is based on psychology. It is, instead, a fellow believer in Jesus coming alongside you and compassionately calling you to believe the word of God and to submit to it in joyful obedience. The fundamental belief behind Biblical Soulcare is that a living faith in the word of God is the starting place for a healthy life.
Christ the King Church has partnered with The 15:20 Coalition to provide biblical soulcare for those who need extra help responding to difficult situations- to see how the Bible speaks into these situations- with faith and obedience. The cost is $40 per hour. In most cases CTK will cover 50% of that cost for members and regular attenders. A majority of these funds will be used to support 15:20’s efforts to preach the gospel among the least reached peoples in the world.
