The Fruits of the Spirit
Call to Worship
This is the day that you have made, Lord.
Help us to rejoice in it and be glad!
Remind us of the privileges we enjoy as your people:
to come to you in these moments,
to confess our sins,
to receive forgiveness and give it,
to pray and sing and listen,
to renew our fainting spirits,
to rest in all your promises.
Open our eyes to see you, Lord.
Open our ears to hear your Word.
Visit us through your Holy Spirit,
and help us to celebrate our faith. Amen.
Father of mercy and justice, You have made us new creations
Still our old selves hold too much power over our actions and attitudes
You have long ago prepared good works for us to do
But we confess that laziness, apathy, and complacency keep us stagnant
Lord, you have given us everything we need to be obedient through your Spirit
Yet we live as if everything depends on our strength and our wisdom
Restore us in the confidence that your grace is all we need
And remind us that You provide have guaranteed the ends and provided the means
Lord, have mercy
Christ, have mercy
Lord, have mercy

I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.
Now he is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else—not only in this world but also in the world to come. God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church. And the church is his body. It is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with himself.
— Ephesians 1:19-23
May the God of hope
fill you with all joy and peace in believing,
so that you may abound in hope
by the power of the Holy Spirit.
