Call to Worship
The earth is the LORD’s and all that is in it,
the world, and those who live in it;
for he has founded it on the seas,
and established it on the rivers.
Through Jesus Christ,
the God of heaven has made his home on earth.
Christ dwells among us and is one with us.
Highest of all creation,
he lives among the least.
He journeys with the rejected
and welcomes the weary.
The diseased, depressed,
dysfunctional and defeated;
God invites us into His healing
presence in faith and expectancy.
Then shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
Worship the LORD with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
Our help is in the name of the Lord,
who made heaven and earth.
-Based on Psalm 24:1-2, Psalm 100
Confession of Sin
Father, you tell us in your Word
that whatever does not proceed from faith is sin.
We confess that we have frequently relaxed our faith.
We have allowed ourselves to become cynical,
and our cynicism has boiled over
with slander, criticism, prayerlessness, and pessimism.
How easily we’ve allowed ourselves
to crumple under the stresses of our lives.
Forgive us for our smallness of faith.
In your mercy, hear us,
for Jesus’ sake. Amen.
Assurance of Pardon
Hear the words of Jesus and be comforted: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
May God, who gives this patience and encouragement, help you live in complete harmony with each other, as is fitting for followers of Christ Jesus. Then all of you can join together with one voice, giving praise and glory to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Peace be with you
And also with you
